Intracoastal Waterway Boat Rental Fort Lauderdale: Millionaire's Row Guide & 2026 Prices

Fort Lauderdale has 300+ miles of Intracoastal canals — more than Venice. Here's what you actually see on a private Millionaire's Row cruise, the best departure windows, and why sightseers and sunset-seekers consistently prefer Fort Lauderdale over Miami.

Private boat cruising the Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal Waterway past waterfront mansions at sunset

Fort Lauderdale is called the Venice of America for a reason that only makes sense once you're on the water: the city is laced with over 300 miles of connected canals, waterways, and Intracoastal channels — almost none of which are visible from any road. The houses fronting the water are different from anything you see from A1A. The yachts docked in private slips are longer than some cruise ship tenders.

A private Intracoastal cruise from Las Olas Marina takes you through all of it. This guide explains what you actually see on a Millionaire's Row charter, which route covers the most notable landmarks, and when to depart to catch the best light — whether you're planning a sunset cruise, a corporate event, or a sightseeing day for a group visiting from out of town.

What You Actually See on Millionaire's Row

The term "Millionaire's Row" refers loosely to the waterfront corridor from the New River through the Intracoastal to the 17th Street Causeway. Here's a landmark-by-landmark breakdown of the standard private charter route from Las Olas Marina:

LandmarkWhat You SeeEst. Distance from Marina
Las Olas BridgeThe iconic drawbridge on Las Olas Blvd — opens on schedule for tall masts. Restaurant and bar patios visible from the water.Departure point
New River CorridorHistoric mansions, private docks, and the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale. Narrowest section — intimate views.0–0.5 miles
Mega-yacht rowPrivate docks hosting 100ft–200ft+ yachts. Varies by season — peak concentration December–April during snowbird season.0.5–1.5 miles
Waterfront estates$10M–$50M+ properties with private pools, helipads, and docks. Architecture ranges from mid-century to ultra-modern glass.1–3 miles
17th Street CausewayThe main Intracoastal landmark — high-clearance bridge with views toward Port Everglades and the ocean inlet.2.5 miles
Port Everglades InletCruise ships and cargo vessels transiting the inlet at deck level. One of the busiest ports in the US — dramatic scale.3–4 miles

A standard half-day charter covers Las Olas → Millionaire's Row → 17th Street Causeway and back, with time to slow down and anchor for photos at the most scenic stretches. A full-day extends to Port Everglades and can add a sandbar or offshore reef stop depending on your group's interests.

What 100+ Intracoastal Charters Taught Us

Running private Intracoastal cruises throughout 2025 and 2026, three patterns stood out across more than 100 departures:

1. The mega-yacht sightlines change completely by season. December through April is peak snowbird season — the private docks along Millionaire's Row are packed with vessels ranging from 80ft sport fishers to 200ft+ superyachts that rarely leave their berths. May through November, many owners take their yachts north or into charter rotation, and the same stretch of canal looks entirely different. If seeing the full concentration of mega-yachts in their berths is a priority, book between December 15 and April 15.

2. The Las Olas drawbridge timing affects your route. The Las Olas Boulevard bridge opens on a fixed schedule for vessels requiring clearance. On weekdays, it opens at scheduled intervals (generally on the hour and half-hour). On weekends, delays are more common due to pedestrian and cyclist traffic. Our captains plan routes that work with the bridge schedule — you won't sit waiting, but first-timers booking independently sometimes get caught in a 20-minute hold.

3. Sunset cruises get re-booked at the highest rate of any charter type. In our Fort Lauderdale fleet, sunset Intracoastal cruises are the most frequently re-booked experience — groups who do it once for a birthday or anniversary come back for anniversaries, proposals, and corporate events. The combination of golden-hour light on the water, the architecture, and the slow pace at anchor makes it qualitatively different from a daytime charter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Private Intracoastal charters start at $320 for a 3-hour sunset cruise (up to 10 guests) and $400 for a standard half-day (4 hours). Full-day charters from $680. All prices include a USCG-licensed captain, fuel, and cooler. No per-person fees — you pay for the vessel.

Millionaire's Row is the waterfront corridor of private estates and mega-yacht docks along the New River and Intracoastal Waterway between the Las Olas bridge and the 17th Street Causeway. Properties range from $10M to $50M+. The stretch is only visible from the water — no road access to most of the waterfront.

Depart 90 minutes before local sunset. In summer (May–Sep), that's around 6:30 PM. In winter (Nov–Feb), around 4:00 PM. The captain anchors at a scenic point during the golden-hour window before returning to the marina after dark. This is our most re-booked charter type.

Different experiences. Fort Lauderdale's Intracoastal offers intimate canal views of mansions, mega-yachts in their home docks, and the Las Olas bridge. Miami's Biscayne Bay is open water with dramatic skyline views. Fort Lauderdale is better for sightseeing and sunset charters; Miami is better for bay cruising and Haulover Sandbar access.

Yes — BYOB and coolers are welcome on all Nauty 360 charters. The boat has a built-in cooler pre-loaded with ice. For corporate events or special occasions, we can coordinate catering pickup at the marina with 48 hours' notice at additional cost.
