What Miami boat rentals actually cost in 2026

We cross-referenced pricing across the four most common booking paths to build the real total-cost comparison no marketplace publishes.

📊 Data Analysis — April 2026
The marketplace math problem: hourly rates hide the real number

Major platforms like Boatsetter and GetMyBoat list Miami boats from $110–$200/hr. What the listing page rarely shows: captain fees run $40–$75/hr extra {{VERIFY: captain surcharge range — Boatsetter Miami listings}}, and fuel for a full day on Biscayne Bay adds another $80–$200 {{VERIFY: avg fuel cost 8-hr Miami charter}}. We built the actual 8-hour cost comparison below.

Booking Path Vessel Size Hourly Rate Captain Fee (8 hrs) Fuel Est. 8-Hour Total
Boatsetter / GetMyBoat ~30ft speedboat $150/hr ~$400 extra ~$120 ~$1,720
Boatsetter / GetMyBoat ~40ft cruiser $250/hr ~$480 extra ~$180 ~$2,660
Local tour operator Shared catamaran $85/person Included Included $850 (10 pax) — but shared boat
Nauty 360 Lancha 29ft Flat rate Included Included $680 total
Nauty 360 Lancha 40ft Flat rate Included Included $1,250 total

When does a private charter beat a group tour?

Shared tours to the Haulover Sandbar run roughly $65–$95 per person and include a fixed schedule, mandatory stops, and other passengers. Here's the break-even:

Group Size Group Tour Total Private Lancha $680 Verdict
4 people ~$320 $680 Group wins — unless privacy matters
8 people ~$640 $680 Near break-even — your boat, your rules
10 people ~$800 $680 ✅ Private wins — $120 cheaper + private
12 people ~$960 $680 ✅ $280 cheaper + full boat control

Group tour prices based on typical Miami sandbar tour operators (~$80/person avg) {{VERIFY}}. Private rate: Lancha 29ft, 8 hours, up to 12 guests.

When a private charter is NOT the right choice

We'd rather you book knowing this than be disappointed on the water.

  • Group of 1–3 on a tight budget. Under 4 people, the per-person math almost always favors a shared sandbar tour at $65–$95/person. A private lancha at $680 for 2 people works out to $340 each — two shared-tour tickets would cost $160 total. The savings are real.
  • You need a packaged party with open bar and DJ. Some Miami group boat operators specialize in party boat experiences with drink packages and sound systems pre-installed. We offer a private, premium experience — we don't do nightclub-on-water setups. If that's what you're after, there are operators who do it well.
  • You want a Bimini day trip for 2 people under $800. Bimini requires an offshore-capable vessel, Bahamian customs clearance, and passports for all passengers. The economics for very small groups don't make sense on a private charter. A commercial Bimini ferry runs ~$200–$300 round trip per person — easier and cheaper for couples.
  • You need hotel pickup included. We depart from Miamarina at Bayside in Downtown Miami — you get there by Uber (about $8 from Brickell, $15–20 from South Beach). Group tours include hotel pickup. We don't. It's a real difference and you should know it upfront.

If none of the above applies — a private charter is almost certainly the better call.

Departure marina & travel times

Nauty 360 Miami charters depart from Miamarina at Bayside, located at 401 Biscayne Blvd in Downtown Miami, adjacent to the Bayside Marketplace and Kaseya Center (home of the Miami Heat). Your captain will be at the dock 15 minutes before departure.

Once confirmed at booking, we send the exact marina address and parking details. Most Miami hotels and Airbnbs are within easy reach: Brickell (~5 min, ~$8 Uber), South Beach (~15 min, ~$15–20 Uber), Coconut Grove (~12 min, ~$12 Uber), Wynwood (~10 min, ~$12 Uber). Street parking is available around Bayside Marketplace.

Florida boating law note: Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 must carry a Florida Boating Safety Education ID to operate a motorized vessel. With Nauty 360, your licensed captain handles all operations — guests need no boating certification.

Miami boat rental — your questions answered

Private boat rentals in Miami with Nauty 360 start at $680 USD for 8 hours aboard a Lancha 29ft (up to 12 guests). A Lancha 40ft is $1,250 USD, a Yacht 60ft is $2,650 USD, and a Catamaran 52ft is $2,890 USD for 8 hours. Captain, fuel, and safety equipment are always included — no hourly billing, no captain surcharge, no fuel add-ons. Marketplace platforms like Boatsetter or GetMyBoat typically add captain fees ($40–$75/hr) and fuel on top of their listed hourly rate, making the real 8-hour cost significantly higher.
The Haulover Sandbar is a shallow stretch of Atlantic water just north of Haulover Beach Park in North Miami Beach. At low tide the depth runs roughly 1–3 feet, making it the most popular social anchoring spot in South Florida — especially on weekends from April through October. On busy summer Saturdays, dozens of boats raft up together. Travel time by lancha is approximately 20–35 minutes from the departure marina {{VERIFY}}. The sandbar is inside the federally managed waters of Haulover Inlet — no permits required for anchoring, but marine patrol presence is common on peak days.
Stiltsville is a cluster of seven wooden structures built on stilts above the shallow flats of Biscayne Bay, approximately 1 mile south of Cape Florida on Key Biscayne. The structures sit inside Biscayne National Park and have been there since the 1930s — they've survived hurricanes, Prohibition-era raids, and multiple government attempts to demolish them. A private charter can anchor near the stilts for photos, swimming and snorkeling. Travel time from the marina is approximately 25–40 minutes. Note: the structures are private (managed by the Stiltsville Trust) — you can anchor and swim nearby but not enter the buildings.
Bimini is 50 nautical miles east of Miami — reachable in approximately 2–2.5 hours on an offshore-capable vessel {{VERIFY}}. A Bimini day trip requires valid passports for all passengers, Bahamian customs and immigration clearance on arrival, and the right vessel for open-water passage. Contact Nauty 360 to ask about vessel availability and pricing for Bimini itineraries — not all vessels in the fleet are approved for offshore passages. For couples or very small groups, a commercial Bimini ferry (~$200–$300/person round trip) is often more practical.
Florida state law requires anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 to carry a Florida Boating Safety Education ID card to legally operate a motorized vessel of 10 horsepower or more. On a Nauty 360 charter, a licensed captain is included on every booking — guests do not need any boating certification, license, or prior experience. The captain handles all navigation, anchoring, and safety protocols.
For full-day charters, yes — almost always. Marketplace platforms list boats at $150–$400/hr, but then add captain fees ($40–$75/hr) and fuel separately. A 40ft boat on Boatsetter for 8 hours typically runs $1,200 in boat rental + $400–$600 in captain fees + $150–$200 in fuel = $1,750–$2,000 total {{VERIFY}}. The equivalent Nauty 360 Lancha 40ft is $1,250 flat, fully all-inclusive. The gap grows on longer charters and larger vessels.
Nauty 360 Miami charters depart from Miamarina at Bayside, 401 Biscayne Blvd, Downtown Miami — at the Bayside Marketplace, next to Kaseya Center. From Brickell it's about a 5-minute Uber (~$8). From South Beach approximately 15 minutes (~$15–20). Street parking and garage parking are available at Bayside Marketplace.
